On November 18, a high-level assessment workshop dedicated to evaluating the "New-Style Cooperative Development Project" was convened in Phan Rang-Tháp Chàm City. Jointly organized by the Vietnam Cooperative Enterprise Development (VCED) project and the Development Section of the Embassy of Canada, the forum brought together key stakeholders to analyze the economic impacts and value-chain enhancements achieved across five strategic provinces: Ninh Thuận, Bình Thuận, Lâm Đồng, Bến Tre, and Sóc Trăng.
Institutional Framework and Value Chain Acceleration
The primary objective of the workshop was to review the institutional transformations and market integration strategies implemented since the project's inception. Funded by Global Affairs Canada, the VCED framework has successfully empowered selected agricultural cooperatives to transition from traditional farming models into modern, highly competitive, and socio-economically sustainable corporate entities.
During the evaluation, the development patterns of the 5 targeted provinces were thoroughly scrutinized. The forum highlighted a major shift toward vertical integration, climate change resilience, and the optimization of the B2B agricultural supply chain. By leveraging international technical expertise provided by organizations like SOCODEVI, participating enterprises have significantly improved their internal audit systems, crop tracking, and export readiness.
The Ben Tre Case Study: A Benchmark for New-Style Cooperatives
Representing the citrus sector within this five-province framework, the Ben Tre Green Skin Pomelo Cooperative was highlighted as an exemplary success story. The collaborative backing from the Canadian Government has enabled the cooperative to structurally enhance its post-harvest infrastructure, notably through its 14-billion-VND multi-functional processing complex operating under strict HACCP guidelines.
For global procurement officers, this national-level validation confirms that the cooperative is not merely a localized supplier, but a top-tier institutional partner. Sourcing from this network guarantees access to a highly organized, GlobalGAP-certified volume of wholesale green skin pomelo Vietnam, fully compliant with strict international maximum residue limits (MRLs) and phytosanitary mandates.
